Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries throughout the week as well on a monthly or seasonal basis.

Community Outreach

Faith Community is part of the Brownlee Woods neighborhood in Youngstown. We participate in joint activities with this neighborhood organization such as neighborhood clean-up, Trunk-or-Treat and car show, and summer movies in Lynn Park.
Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association, Powertown and Buckeye Block Watches, and the 7th Ward Citizen Coalition all hold their monthly meeting at our church. We also seek to support the local elementary school, Paul C. Bunn, through supplying school supplies and winter gloves and hats. The first Sunday of the month we collect food for their food pantry.

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. We have an Adult Choir that sings most Sundays during the school year and a Praise Choir that sings 1-2 times each month. They both practice on Thursday evenings at 6:00 (Adult). There is a children’s choir called Grace Notes! that practices at 10:00 on Sunday mornings and sings every 3-4 weeks.

As a church we support and pray for mission work around the world. We specifically support Joel & Kim Delp, Covenant Missionaries in Ecuador. As a church we support two children through Covenant Kids Congo/World Vision. Besides the Delps, we have heard from missionaries in Japan and Congo during the past few years.

Christian Education

There are a number of opportunities to learn and grow in our faith. There is an adult Sunday School class that meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Fortress Room. The children are dismissed after a Children’s Moment and pray in worship for their Children’s Church time. On Wednesday evenings at 6:30, Pastor Mike leads a Bible study to help us understand and apply God’s Word to our lives. They are currently studying Prayer.

Children & Youth

There are various times during the week & year when the children and youth of the church learn more about Jesus. Sunday mornings provide an opportunity in FaithBuilders for those in grades K-5 to learn together during the second part of the Worship Service. Middle school students are given the opportunity to grow in their faith through Confirmation. Camp Mission Meadows in New York provides a uuique experience during the summer for children grades 3-12.
